Tata Motors is preparing to reintroduce one of its most iconic SUVs — the Tata Sierra — with a brand-new design and modern technology. The final production version was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi and is expected to launch before the close of the current financial year.
The Sierra will initially be offered either as a petrol/diesel-powered model or an electric version, with both expected to arrive within close range of each other.
Classic Meets Contemporary in Design
The new Tata Sierra retains signature elements from its earlier concept while embracing modern styling. A standout feature is its floating-effect black roof paired with a sweeping panoramic sunroof, giving it a glass canopy look. The SUV’s bold profile includes strong body lines and a muscular silhouette that signals its off-road potential and premium feel.

Powertrain Options: Petrol, Diesel, and Electric
The upcoming Tata Sierra is expected to feature two internal combustion engine options — a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit generating 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre diesel variant producing 170 PS and 350 Nm. Buyers will have the flexibility to choose between a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, or a 7-speed DCT transmission.
An all-electric Tata Sierra will follow, likely offering dual battery options with a claimed driving range exceeding 500 kilometers. Features like DC fast charging, vehicle-to-load (V2L), and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities are also expected.
