Royal Enfield is preparing to enter the 250cc motorcycle segment with an all-new hybrid model, developed in collaboration with Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto. Sources close to the development confirm that Royal Enfield is in the advanced stages of finalizing an agreement with CFMoto to source a 250cc hybrid engine, expected to power the company’s entry-level premium bike in India.
New Entry-Level Model to Slot Below Hunter 350
Positioned below the popular Hunter 350, the upcoming 250cc hybrid motorcycle is projected to be priced between ₹1.25 lakh and ₹1.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The move is aimed at appealing to budget-conscious buyers seeking a premium entry into Royal Enfield’s lineup. This new model will offer a more accessible alternative without compromising the brand’s signature appeal.

BS6 Phase 2 and CAFÉ Norm Compliant Engine
The 250cc engine, sourced from CFMoto, will be developed specifically to comply with BS6 Phase 2 emission standards, as well as the forthcoming Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFÉ) norms. According to insiders, the unit is engineered for fuel efficiency and hybrid capability, marking a step towards both mild-hybrid and full-hybrid motorcycle technologies.
“This engine goes beyond just compliance. It represents Royal Enfield’s vision for long-term sustainable mobility,” shared a source familiar with the project.
